THE CURRICULUM
Tiffany has compiled the foundational teachings of Ayurveda into the following modules to create a course that provides a profound and comprehensive understanding of this ancient wisdom. You are given a depth of understanding, innumerable tools and a truly inspired invitation to live Ayurveda.
Foundation & History
Together we will discover the Vedic roots of Ayurveda, be fascinated by the depth of its wisdom and yet recognize how clearly relevant and necessary this wisdom is for today’s world.
Prakruti & Vikruti
What is your Constitution? Does it change over time? How can we appear to be governed by certain qualities at one time of our life and to express very differently later? Enters the wisdom of Prakruti & Vikruti!
Agni
Fire! The Ayurvedic understanding of Fire, or Agni, recognizes the way in which the fire element determines our overall health. Agni is the force of intelligence within each cell, each tissue, and every system within the body, and it determines what is absorbed as nutrition and what is removed as waste.
Ahara Chikitsa:
Food as Medicine
Ayurveda is very clear that food is our primary medicine. Accordingly, all good health begins with diet and digestion, both in what we eat but also how we eat and source our sustenance. One of the most important ways we can maintain health in body and mind is by eating wisely and Ayurvedic wisdom is rich with guidance on how to do so.
Mahabhuta: 5 Elements
Come to understand The 5 Great Elements and recognize the ways in which they express, animate and determine existence.
Dinacharya:
Daily Routine
One of the most celebrated aspects of our course is establishing a Daily Ayurvedic Routine. According to Ayurveda, a daily routine is absolutely necessary to establish balance in one’s constitution and overall health.
Ama: Toxicity
The concept of Ama is unique to Ayurveda, and it is understood as the underlying cause of many diseases. As we come to recognize the expressions of Ama in the body and mind, we learn ways to avoid its build-up, as well as methods to remove it.
Vihara Chikitsa:
Lifestyle Medicine
According to Ayurveda, how we live either maintains balance, harmony and ease, or creates suffering and dis-ease on every level. Coming to learn and recognize ways to live in alignment with your unique constitution is an important resource that can truly reorient and align you to effortless living.
TriDosha (Vata/Pitta/Kapha)
Tridosha is possibly the most shared aspect of Ayurveda today and yet the most misunderstood. Come to a deeper and applied understanding of these 3 elemental expressions.
Ritucharya:
Seasonal Routine
Understanding the rhythm of seasonality brings a deeper understanding of our interconnection with all of life. When we live in alignment with the seasons, we create great possibility for effortless health.
Fasting + Cleansing
According to Ayurveda fasting and cleansing are employed at specific moments, in a specific condition of the body, and only then can they be powerful in stimulating your digestive fire, restoring healthy organ functions, calming the mind and clearing toxins.
Aushadhi Chikitsa:
Herbs + Sense Medicine
Sacred Herbalism and connection to plant-medicine is a beautiful teaching of Ayurveda, alongside its suggestions of how to attune all of senses to nature and the natural elements to bring peace and healing.
3 Causes of Disease
There are 3 Causes of Disease according to Ayurveda. Knowing these gives us the wisdom of discernment and the choice to live in ways that orient us to health rather than illness.
Ratricharya:
Night Routine
Just as we have a Daily + Morning Routine in Ayurveda, how we enter into sleep and the quality of rest both in our days and our nights is an essential aspect of preventing disease and maintaining a rich and healthful life.
Saptadhatus: 7 Tissues
From the Ayurvedic understanding, the body is a composite of 7 different tissues or systems, and knowing these allows us to recognize the impact of the doshas upon them and how to maintain balanced health.
AyurYoga:
Ayurveda + Yoga
Yoga is an integral part of Ayurveda, not just a sister science, and their intention towards alleviation of suffering is singular. By understanding how Yoga can be medicinal for your constitution you will be empowered to find ways to align to a daily practice that balances your constitution and alleviates any current imbalances.
I am deeply grateful for this journey of Ayurveda – for these precious sharings of you – Tiffany Nicholson-Smith – your beautiful guidance & wisdom pouring through as well as for each question & experience shared in this immersion. 🙏
What a gift in every day life.
Deep gratitude and love 🌷💕
Thank you thank you thank you to Tiffany and all of you shiny souls from the online immersion! Although I couldn’t always make it online, I feel very connected with you all, and just want to extend so much love and gratitude to you all. I feel so honoured and blessed to have embarked upon this journey with you. For me, I’ve seen huge transformation with this course, and it warms my heart to know that this is only the beginning. Physically, my digestion has significantly improved – due to lots of the practices – but namely taking Triphala at night before bed-time. Mentally and emotionally – the daily morning routine has calmed my vata tendencies and really helps me to ground.
Spiritually, the depth of the knowledge you share Tiffany just blows my heart right open. Your transmission is so direct, clear, with this pure intention of helping us all in this waking-up process – I am just constantly shattered (in a brilliant way) by your transmission.
All the blessings, all the love, to this inspiring sangha!!
