Sacred Song, Sadhana & Silence
Homecoming
Vichara Yoga Retreat - Wakefield Quebec
Homecoming & Autumn Turning
Autumn carries a natural invitation to come home.
After the expansion and outward movement of summer, life begins to gather itself again. Children return to school, familiar rhythms re-form, the light softens, the air cools, and the natural world begins its gradual movement inward toward winter. There is a sense of returning—to routine, to the body, to what matters, and perhaps most deeply, to ourselves.
Both Ayurveda and the wisdom traditions of Chinese Medicine recognize this seasonal turning as a meaningful threshold. As the qualities around us become cooler, drier and more changeable, we are invited to cultivate greater warmth, steadiness, nourishment and inner listening. Through Yoga, Qigong and Taiji, meditation, mantra and seasonal teachings, we will explore practices that help us move gracefully with this transition rather than against it.
Homecoming is an invitation to gather what has become scattered, release what no longer needs to be carried, and re-establish ourselves in the rhythms and practices that truly nourish us.
The intention throughout the weekend is simple: grounded vitality in the body, spaciousness in the heart, clarity in the mind—and a deeper remembrance of the place within us that is already Home.
Location & Setting
A Homecoming to Vichara Yoga Shala
This gathering also marks a literal homecoming.
Sacred Song, Sādhana & Silence will take place at Vichara Yoga Shala, our home Sadhana space nestled within the forests of the Gatineau Hills. Rather than travelling away to retreat, we will welcome you into the intimate environment in which much of our own practice, teaching and community life unfolds.
Autumn is especially beautiful here. The surrounding forest is changing colour, the air has begun to sharpen, evenings invite fire and warmth, and the landscape itself seems to encourage a quieter pace.
Our days will move naturally between the Shala and the land—Yoga and meditation, Qigong and Taiji, sacred song and Kirtan, nourishing seasonal meals, quiet walks, shared fires and spacious periods simply to rest.
There is something particularly meaningful about gathering in a home dedicated to practice. We hope that Vichara will feel less like a retreat venue and more like a place you have been welcomed back to—a place to settle, reconnect, listen and remember.
For a few autumn days, we come together to make the movement that the season itself is making: from the outer toward the inner, from dispersion toward gathering, from doing toward Being.
Days Immersed In:
- Daily kirtan (sacred chanting) to open the heart and deepen into mantra
- Qigong practices (Five Elements – Fire element) to support emotional balance, vitality, and authentic connection
- Taijiwuxigong to activate the dantian, circulate vital energy (yuan qi), and support deep internal healing
- Yoga sessions for both activation and regulation (opening the body while calming the nervous system)
- Ayurvedic teachings and mini-workshop on seasonal balance, including Ayurvedic cooking lesson with Tiffany
- Pranayama, meditation, and shared stillness for inner clarity and peace
- Guided practices aligned with the summer solstice and seasonal transition (TCM, Yoga, Ayurveda perspectives)
- Nature-based experiences: meditation walks, outdoor sadhan and potential campfire kirtans
- Cedar wood-fiored hot tub
- Contempolative atmosphere including fireside, porch nooks, and forest trails
- Opportunities to receive teachings from multiple facilitators and perspectives
- Nourishing and delicious ayurvedic meals designed to support balance and nervous system regulation
- Take-home practices and seasonal tools for ongoing integration beyond the retreat
The Gifts of:
Kirtan & Mantra
Throughout the retreat, we will gather in sacred song—entering mantra not simply as music, but as a way of softening the heart, quieting the mind and remembering what is essential.
Supported by Alexander’s grounded percussive presence, the rhythms offer a steady pulse beneath the chanting, allowing us to be carried by the mantra into greater ease, devotion and stillness.
Qigong — The Metal Element
In Five Element Qigong, Tim will guide us into the Metal element—the element of autumn, traditionally associated with the Lungs and Large Intestine, breath, discernment, boundaries and the capacity to let go.
Autumn asks Nature to release what is complete and gather its energies inward. Through movement, breath and awareness, we will explore this same movement within ourselves—making space for grief and tenderness where they are present, releasing what is no longer needed, and refining our attention toward what is truly valuable.
Taijiwuxigong
Taijiwuxigong works more deeply with the body’s energetic architecture, supporting the release of accumulated tension and the activation of the dantian.
Simple but powerful movements encourage the circulation of yuan qi—original vital force—through the central energetic pathways, helping the body become more open, aligned, grounded and alive.
Yoga & Ayurveda — Grounding Vāta
From an Ayurvedic perspective, autumn increasingly expresses the qualities of Vāta: cool, dry, light, mobile and changeable. These same qualities can begin to appear within us as restlessness, scattered attention, dryness, fatigue, irregular rhythms or a feeling of being ungrounded.
Our Yoga and Ayurvedic practices will therefore emphasize the balancing qualities of warmth, steadiness, nourishment, rhythm and embodied presence.
Through grounding āsana, breath, meditation, rest and seasonal Ayurvedic teachings—including simple approaches to autumn food and daily rhythm—we will explore how to remain open and vital without becoming dispersed.
The invitation is not to resist autumn, but to move intelligently with it: gathering Prāṇa, warming the body, settling the mind and making the inward journey toward winter with greater steadiness and ease.
About us:
Hearts calling is a unique blend of Kirtan and Medicine Music music mixed with spiritually inspired heart hop and poetry. Whether singing deep soulful melodies or danceable chants, Fraser/Rishi and Dana’s Kirtans are grounding and meditative, as well as energizing and uplifting.
Their inner journey started many years ago but really came to fruition after traveling to India in 2006, where they discovered the power of Yoga and Kirtan. In 2010 Fraser completed his first yoga teacher training, and soon they would both return to India to complete a RYT 200 training with their original teacher, Pankaj Seth. In 2015, they met their root spiritual teacher, Mooji Baba, from whom Fraser received the name Rishi.
In addition to regular Kirtans and classes, they host retreats and have shared their art, hearts and practice across Canada, as well as in Europe and India.
Rishi has been teaching Qi Gong and Tai Chi for over a decade, has competed a one year 5 elements Qi Gong teacher mentorship with Mimi Kuo Deemer and has been authorized to teach Taijiwuxigong by Andy Henry.
Tiffany and Alexander are partners in life and teaching, devoted to guiding others into the heart of truth, connection, and sacred presence. Together, they weave decades of immersion in Yoga, Ayurveda, Meditation, and the healing wisdom of Tantra and Young Men’s Work into offerings that are both grounded and luminous. Tiffany, an International Teacher and Ayurvedic Doctor, shares powerful transmissions steeped in Classical Hatha Yoga, Ayurveda, and the timeless essence of Advaita Vedanta. Alexander, a coach, mentor, and facilitator, creates spaces for self-knowing, growth, and deep authenticity, drawing on archetypal psychology, Integral frameworks, and the ancient teachings of Yoga and Tantra.
Their partnership intends towards a living expression of devotion—rooted in ancient lineages and alive with the pulse of the present. Together, they offer immersive retreats, alchemical trainings, and intimate sessions that invite profound self-recognition, soulful transformation, and the remembrance of our essential wholeness. Their work is an honest invitation to step fully into the sacredness of life, where each moment together becomes an anchoring possibility to know the beauty of the Heart.
