Happy Mahasivaratri! The Great Night of Shiva! ✨

Of the 12 New Moons 🌚 each year, this one is honoured as the evening in which Shiva offered his dance as Nataraja, reminding us of the great cyclical dance of life, from creation to destruction. Recognizing and worshipping the presence of Shiva is in essence a recognition of the great ephemeral nature of life, the immanence of death, and it allows for an emptying out of the unnecessary. Essentially, this is one of the most powerful moments of the year to let go of the falsities and to drop any clingings to the past. It is a pivotal planetary moment that yields great potency and power to surrender our fastened karmas and to come anew with a refreshed presence to the nowness of what is. The worship of Shiva can be felt as an invitation to the Grace of Freedom; a humble asking to relinquish the ignorance that keeps us bound to suffering and to the past, and a welcoming recognition that this moment is truly all that exists. Truly.

On a lighter note, we’re going to be chanting our pants off in a late-night vigil under the empty sky, Ganga-side. Pants off is figurative because I am currently in India and it is chilly 😉. I suggest you too chant to Shiva at least 108x this evening with the simple yet powerful mantra ‘Om Namah Shivaya’ and let it clear the way.

Happiest Day to each of you! Jai Mahadev! 🙏🏻🕉🙏🏻
